Job Profile

PURPOSE OF ROLE
Assist the Commercial & Resource Manager (CRM) to achieve an improved performance against budget by providing commercial and operations support across the Integrated Transport Division, ensuring that Group Directives are followed as required.

A key member of the ITD operations team, the role holder will support and monitor projects and proposals in the ITD portfolio.

Job Description


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

COMMERCIAL / FINANCIAL
BID:
- Work alongside the ITD Bid Team to ensure compliance of all our bids.
- Working with other ITD Operations Managers (OMs) and the CRM to ensure all Proposal Approvals submitted across the division are compliant with Group Directives (including EPC and selection of PPs & PMs are suitable) whilst ensuring Decision to Bid and Gold Review instructions have been followed through
- Assist the CRM to manage the ITD list of approved PP and PMs measuring competence and developing current and future capability
- To provide support to and knowledge capture for, bid teams e.g. in the reviewing of terms and conditions and any bid commercial aspects i.e. cash flow, bonds, rate indexation, commercial bid caveats etc.
- Work alongside the Commercial Manager and the CRM to mitigate divisional risks especially international ones and be an alternate point of contact for any approvals required from senior management (e.g. LOL, Bonds etc)
- Support the Commercial Manager by undertaking contract reviews as and when requested

PROJECT :
- Attend selected Inception Reviews on Projects across ITD to ensure that the commercial conditions agreed on the Proposal Approval are reflected in PMD
- Attend selected 30/50 Mid Project Reviews to ensure the commercials of the projects are being maintained
- Review and monitor actions from the CSRs and maintain oversight of project performance, seeking early warning of any commercial issue or risk which may be of concern
- Work alongside the Accounts Team and the CSM to help:
o prepare financial / monitoring reports as required
o Improve the overall profitability of the ITD portfolio
- Work alongside Account Leaders to ensure that risk registers on projects are reviewed and monitored on a regular basis, plus that knowledge capture and lessons learnt are undertaken.
- To assist any failing/difficult projects and assist the PP and PM to prepare suitable recovery plans and work with them to monitor their performance

ITD OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
- To provide data, input material, reports etc as necessary to feed into ITD Management Meetings and to attend as required.
- To assist the CRM in working
alongside the ITD portfolio and account to ensure they adhere to financial and non-financial targets e.g. management/delivery budgets
- To assist the CRM in working alongside the General Manager to monitor (and manage) overhead spend
- To assist the CRM to monitor (and manage) overhead spend including but not limited to IT, training and administration
- To assist the CRM in working alongside the Account Leaders to ensure training plans are in place and followed – in line with budgets
- To assist the CRM in their responsibility for the divisions compliance with BMS

OVERSEAS TRAVEL
- To assist the CRM in being the first review point within Integrated Transport to approve overseas travel and/or trading requests before submitting them for further approval.

PROJECT DELIVERY
To assist Project Managers and Project Principles manage the commercial elements of their projects when requested. Tasks to include but not limited to:
- To coach PMs and PPs in the use of PMD – set-up, management, budgets, resourcing, profit release etc.
- To monitor the allocation of PMs and PPs and review their compliance to the EPC Project Complexity assessment
- To review project compliance with BMS – review eform completion with particular focus on the quality and frequency of MPCMs, ensuring PPWs are completed in a timely manner.
- To attend monthly project control meetings and attendance at monthly contract status review meetings as requested.
- To assist the CRM in being responsible for compliance with BMS and Group Directives for the project

Candidate Specification

Essential experience:
Has previous project experience and can demonstrate strong project management skills with positive commercial performance metrics..
Proven ability to manage projects with excellent skills in the use of PMD
Proven ability to deliver financially and improve financial metrics
Has strong track record of ensuring project performance and delivery.
Is decisive, tolerant of ambiguity with high energy levels, positivity and proactivity.
Has excellent communication skills and is able to relate to others at all levels to illicit necessary results.
Has strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to demonstrate a wide range of Project Management disciplines, expertise across contract/procurement routes and market sectors
Strong client and stakeholder relationship building skills
Effective communicator, with clients, project teams and business managers
