Job Description

  • Designing lighting and electrical layouts to British standards (plus other national standards as required)
  • Assisting with project work in highway cross section considerations (safety fence clearances etc.)
  • Interfacing with other relevant design resources when required
  • Assisting with project work in traffic signs and illumination when required
  • Assisting with project work in maintenance when required
  • Preparation of contract documentation
  • Liaison and interface with clients, other MM teams and third parties as required for completion of work
  • Correspondence with clients, other MM teams and third parties as required
  • Compliance with Mott MacDonald IMS and other policies and procedures as required
  • Reporting to the lighting manager

Candidate Specification

For this role you will need the following skills and competencies:
  • Experience in highways lighting design, with electrical design as a desirable skill
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of media in an effective and polite manner with all relevant parties
  • A desire to work within a team to achieve a high standard of highway lighting design and documentation
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • A flexible attitude to undertake a wide range of tasks within the office
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • A proactive approach to work, willing to get involved with tasks to support the sub-division
You will have a qualification in a related engineering subject. Additionally you will be trained to professional recognised standards for carrying out design work in accordance with the construction design and management regulations. You will be computer literate with advanced proven current knowledge and ability in design software such as Lighting Reality and DiaLUX. Although not essential, a driving licence is highly desirable as the position occasionally involves driving on business.
