Our portfolio has included the Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong, the twin Bhomibol Bridges in Bangkok and the Kayang Bridge in South Korea. We are presently engaged on an exciting network arch bridge in North West England, working on a major expressway in Doha, Qatar, undertaking the Lender’s Technical Advisor role on what will be the world’s longest suspension bridge, as well as currently working on large high speed rail infrastructure projects and significant UK rail projects such as the Wessex Capacity Upgrade (Waterloo Station).

Our portfolio of technical work includes cable supported bridges, bridge dynamics, non-linear finite element analysis of structures, collapse modelling, as well as other heavy civil engineering structures and major transportation infrastructure projects.

Job Description

We want to appoint a Bridge engineer or Assistant bridge engineer in the Croydon office to support a growing workload of exciting projects located in the UK and around the world. You will have exceptional technical skills with good structural knowledge and understanding. We will also be looking for the drive to grow a career within our bridge business. The design work will involve undertaking the design/assessment of bridge structures covering a wide range of bridge types.

You could be either leading a section of the design or as a project manager, you will be responsible and report to a project director.

Candidate Specification

Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
• A good Civil or Structural Engineering Degree (honours or equivalent)

Desired academic, professional qualifications and experience:
• Chartered or nearly chartered

Essential competencies / skills:
• Strong understanding of structural behaviours with an ability to translate this into effective structural design
• Good structural engineering experience
• Ability to communicate effectively in face to face meetings with clients
• We would expect the person to be able to interrogate the results of the analysis. Experience of various software packages (present packages include MIDAS, LUSAS, SAM and Staad) would be useful but strong structural understanding and a good grasp of analytical techniques are of prime importance
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards, with a desire to push boundaries where appropriate
• Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally as required
