Carbon mitigation

In this context we would cover energy efficiency, utilization of low-grade gases, technology switch, carbon offsetting, and carbon capture and storage.

Carbon finance

We offer carbon finance and monetization of projects such as Clean Development Mechanism and joint implementation eligibility. In addition we assist in project identification, methodology, and registration.

Carbon adaptation

Mott MacDonald has a multidisciplinary expertise in all aspects of engineering support, including flood risk assessment, safety cases, and construction of infrastructure to avoid future climate-change-related events.


Our CCS services complement our long-standing expertise in coal, oil- and gas-fired power and heat, oil and gas pipelines, gas storage, and enhanced oil recovery.

From the gas reserve or coal mine, through the generation plant to geological sequestration, our multidisciplinary teams understand the technical, environmental, and commercial profile of power generation with CO2 capture, including the upstream and downstream supply chains.

Our expertise includes in-depth knowledge of the design, engineering, operations, and construction of pipelines, pumping, and compressor systems and associated facilities, as well as the geological storage of gas.

We are also able to provide expertise in the performance of availability, reliability and maintainability (ARM) assessments from source to sink and quantify the carbon footprint over the whole life cycle of the project.

Our capabilities span the whole spectrum of upstream facilities and process engineering relevant to the appraisal of gas extraction, reforming and CO2 injection for both onshore and offshore CCS projects.
