First in America
In the summer of 2016, a state-of-the-art jackup vessel traveled from France to Rhode Island, carrying five nacelles for the Block Island Wind Farm. The first project of its kind in the US, the wind farm would generate enough power for more than 17,000 homes.
During the course of the project, Mott MacDonald provided owner’s engineering services to Deepwater Wind, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, cost estimates, permitting, and public relations.
Jeffrey Grybowski, CEO of Deepwater Wind, said, "Mott MacDonald is a world-class engineering and consulting firm with market-leading experience in the offshore sector. We are proud to have them as part of the Block Island wind farm team and their insight into this complex industry has proven invaluable."
