Mott MacDonald is seeking a resident inspector with experience in roadway and utilities for a project-specific opportunity in New Orleans, LA. The municipal inspector will perform routine inspections which will require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Projects will include municipal, roadways, water/wastewater, and sewer/stormwater. This role

Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:

  • Receives interpretation of designs and specifications from the Engineer in Charge.
  • Monitors the performance of contractors.
  • Has some initial supervised exposure to clients.
  • Receives direction for solutions from the Engineer in Charge.
  • Utilizes uniform quantity recording and reporting procedures.
  • Performs routine inspection services while maintaining a supervised liaison between supervisor and contractor.
  • Is familiar with survey equipment such as the Total Station/Data Collector, Self-Leveling Level, and Global Positioning System.
  • Is familiar with commonly used surveying and construction terms.
  • Measures correct distances using tape and determines constructed quantities.
  • Compiles notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed and keeps same in a field book.
  • Prepares daily inspection reports using Procore.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Familiarity with utilizing Procore software for inspection reports.
  • Familiar with LADOTD, City of New Orleans & Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans standards and specifications.
  • Construction inspection on Municipal projects, i.e., structural, roadway, drainage, parking, paving.
  • Construction observation and inspection for types of public infrastructure projects which may include projects in the municipal/parish transportation sectors preferred.
  • ATSSA Certified TCT or TCS certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
