Senior infrastructure engineer - utilities

Job Profile

The highways & infrastructure team provides services from initial appraisal & master planning to detailed design and supervision for a wide spectrum of highways, LRT, utilities, drainage & external works projects. We are currently involved with a broad range of clients & schemes including:

  • Thames Tideway Tunnel
  • Wessex Rail Upgrade
  • Crossrail Stations (Liverpool St; Hillingdon; Woolwich)
  • Croydon Tramlink
  • Northern Line Extension
  • Highways Agency projects
  • Network Rail
  • Transport for London
  • Environment Agency
  • Private Sector Developments
  • Local Authority Frameworks
  • Urban Realm & Regeneration

Job Description

The successful candidate will be ideally be Chartered (or Incorporated), having demonstrable Utilities experience in design of highway & infrastructure projects.

As a Senior Infrastructure (Utilities) Engineer, you will provide sound technical leadership in utilities aspects of highways, LRT, rail civil, drainage and utilities projects.

Senior Engineers (Utilities) are responsible for:

  • Utilities coordination & specialist advice
  • Taking a lead role in utilities aspects of projects within skills area
  • Preparing detailed desktop investigation & assessments
  • Use of computer based applications & design tools
  • Coordinating utility diversion design within wider project team
  • Promoting & ensuring adherence to H&S policy & procedures
  • Ensuring delivery to client requirements of quality standards, programme and budget
  • Preparing and delivering own work programmes
  • Developing excellent client relationships
  • Compliance with corporate governance processes

Candidate Specification

You will need to have/be :
  • Preferably Chartered (or possibly Incorporated) Engineer
  • HNC / Degree qualified in civil engineering or similar
  • Substantial utilities experience applied to highways & infrastructure projects
  • Experience of engaging with utility service providers
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure network, utility coordination & processes
  • Standard industry software skills including knowledge of BIM
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally (written and verbal)
