Electrical engineer / Senior electrical engineer

Job Profile

Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) are working with United Utilities (UU) in delivering their AMP6 programme of work. We have a diverse array of projects ranging from £100k to £30M in both water and wastewater, and wish to engage the services of an experienced electrical engineer in our Whalley office (Blackburn) to bolster the team's delivery capacity.

Job Description

You will undertake electrical and ICA design of water and wastewater schemes as part of a large multidisciplinary team.

Typical duties include:
  • Preparation, or review of drawings for plant general arrangements, power single line diagrams, cable block diagrams, instrumentation loop diagrams, P&IDs, control system architecture drawings, and cable, instrument and I/O schedules at detailed design level.
  • Production of documentation, including user requirement specifications/control philosophies, tender documentation (including particular electrical and ICA specifications)
  • Instrument specification
  • Attendance at HAZOP and ALMs
  • Attendance at factory and site acceptance tests
  • Preparation for commissioning phases and direct liaison with the site staff throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the installation meets the required design.

Candidate Specification

  • Experienced electrical engineer, preferably Chartered, Incorporated, or working towards such
  • Strong technical knowledge of your field, able to advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts electrical engineering issues
  • Able to demonstrate a broad experience in LV and HV distribution systems, motor control centres/control panels, electrical installation, SCADA and telemetry systems
  • Able to write and deliver technical specifications, control philosophies and schedules
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification, design and equipment specification
  • Knowledge of United Utilities standards, specifications and frameworks
