Job Profile

Mott MacDonald’s Sheffield Office has a strong engineering pedigree and the capability to deliver a wide range of civil engineering, building and advisory projects. Our water team is currently engaged on major flood defence projects in Sheffield, Leeds and Hull as well as preparing drainage designs for a wide range of building, highway and rail schemes.

We have recently moved into attractively refurbished offices in the city centre and actively promote collaborative working. We also work closely with colleagues in Leeds, Newcastle and elsewhere in the UK.

We are looking to grow our local office to deliver exciting new projects and have a key opportunity to join our team at a senior level.

Job Description

We are seeking chartered or equivalent civil engineer to work within the Water team. The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer fantastic opportunities for skill-set and career development. The focus of the role is drainage design, flood risk assessment and civil engineering inputs to some substantial water related projects. The key elements of the role include:
  • Development of drainage designs from concept to delivery,
  • Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments,
  • Development of flood alleviation schemes from appraisal stage to detailed design,
  • Manage a team typically comprising a graduate and technician to deliver project specific solutions,
  • Liaison with a wide range of clients, third-parties and colleagues,
  • Use of industry standard software such as MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil3D, HEC-RAS, GIS

Candidate Specification

We are looking for a chartered or equivalent engineer, with experience of managing a team to delivering sustainable drainage and flood alleviation schemes to join the Sheffield based water team. The successful candidate will have:
  • Experience in the delivery of sustainable drainage schemes which are compliant with the DMRB and Sewers for Adoption,
  • Experience of delivering flood alleviation schemes,
  • Ability to work within a BIM environment,
  • Project management skills,
  • Commercial and environmental awareness.
