Acting as part of the Newcastle Water team, you will work closely with others on wastewater and drainage projects, from model build and system analysis through to feasibility and solution design, supporting principal modellers and managing technicians and graduates. You will have the skill, confidence and initiative to bring forward innovation and help to maintain Mott MacDonald at the forefront of this highly specialised area. Job Description

We are seeking an experienced hydraulic modeller to work within the Buildings and Infrastructure Unit. The successful applicant will report directly to the Sector Lead in the Newcastle upon Tyne office.
The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development. The focus of the role is applying InfoWorks ICM software to the analysis and solution of problems relating to wastewater networks and surface water flooding. The key elements of the role include:
  • Delivery of project work to cost and quality, while constantly seeking efficiencies.
  • Providing mentoring and management of four junior modelling staff (graduates/technician).
  • Working with a team of two principal modellers, three graduate engineers and a technician in project work to identify and analyse problems and develop solutions.
  • Scoping and management of specialist survey inputs, including flow monitoring, topographical, manhole and CCTV surveys.
  • Preparation of modelling reports

Candidate Specification

We are looking for a wastewater hydraulic modeller, with experience of InfoWorks ICM, to join the Newcastle team.

The successful candidate will need/have:
  • Degree or HNC qualification in an appropriate discipline is essential.
  • Proven ability in wastewater modelling is essential.
  • Proficiency in MapInfo and Excel applications is essential.
  • Full capability in the use of InfoWorks ICM (both 1D and 2D) and its application to model building, model verification and the solution of practical problems is essential.
  • Experience in modelling of integrated catchments in InfoWorks is desirable.
  • Strong report writing skills are desirable
