Wastewater modeller

Job Profile

We are looking for a motivated wastewater engineer with a passion for quality and a determination to deliver.
You will have some experience of wastewater modelling or wastewater engineering and have an appreciation of commercial and project management issues faced when undertaking project work so that you can build on this to become a competent member of our thriving modelling team.

Mott MacDonald has been successful in winning a place on Scottish Water’s SR15 Framework.
We are operating in a JV partnership for the Technical Consultancy Framework as m2 JV.
This Framework offers up exciting opportunities to work on model maintenance, flooding and UID projects across Scotland.

Job Description

In this role as Wastewater Modeller, you will develop your skills in a range of modelling activities, being involved in a wide variety of studies from scoping to verification to solution development. Effective communication with all team members whether this is fellow modellers, design engineers or project managers will be required as part of your role.
You will record your work clearly and concisely and follow our internal checking and approval procedure to ensure we continue to provide our clients with quality outputs.
You will bring your enthusiasm for learning and your diligence to projects to strive for excellence.

Acting as part of the UK-wide wastewater modelling team, you will gain support from like-minded modellers with a wide range of experience and gain exposure to the work we do across the UK for all our clients.
You will also be able to contribute to the further development of the wider UK team.

Candidate Specification

The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level and keen to work towards Chartership. You will be a problem solver, self-checker, diligent and an effective communicator; able to explain your thought processes in a logical and coherent fashion in both oral presentations and written reports.
You are likely to have wastewater modelling or wastewater engineering experience; whilst no previous wastewater modelling experience is required, an awareness of modelling and of InfoWorks software would be an advantage.

In addition, you will also have experience of:
  • GIS software (preferably MapInfo)
  • Recording and checking own work
The ideal candidate will also have some experience of:
  • Scoping data collection surveys (manhole CCTV and flow surveys)
  • Managing data collection surveys
  • Model Build
  • Model verification
  • Solution development with models
