Job Description

Your Next Challenge
  • Perform critical path analysis and calculations
  • Cost and resource load schedules and ensure they reflect accurate phasing
  • Create and maintain manpower forecast, progress curves and histograms
  • Calculation, interpretation and production of Earned Value using SPI and CPI
  • Reporting in accordance with client requirements and advice on corrective action to recover deviations from plan, as appropriate
  • Evaluate schedule risks and produce schedule risk analysis reports
  • Ensure compliance with the Company Project Programming Procedure by preparing Project Planning Procedures and rolling out
  • Assist in future planning tool specification and roll-out, training and mentoring
  • Managing the input and workload of Assistant planner(s) or other resources allocated to assist
  • Create and maintain as built programmes, recording delay events and impact and assisting with justification of claims for loss and expenses

Candidate Specification

What You'll Need
  • A degree in a relevant construction or engineering subject and working towards a relevant professional qualification
  • Proven experience on construction or engineering projects, with preference to varied experience in different disciplines
  • Demonstrable minimum of 3 years planning experience on large projects in construction or an engineering based project environment, with a preference given to experience over both the design and implementation phases
  • Knowledge of planning principles and practices, with experience in using project planning management software, in particular Primavera P6
  • Able to develop a programme of work from discussion with the project team, from a project scope of work and scheme drawings
  • An understanding of risk management techniques and the interpretation and representation of risk in programmes
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft Office and excellent command of English for use in written reports and verbal presentations
  • Motivated self-starter able to work independently or in a team environment as needed with personal organisation and planning skills to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously, as well as creative problem-solving skills to solve vaguely defined practical problems
  • Lead the creation, updating and progressing of the integrated master plan that represent activities required to successfully deliver key project / scheme milestones, being aware of interface activities as appropriate, by liaising with various planning contributors
  • Arrange planning workshops to roll-out the agreed work breakdown structures and working methods to the various planning contributors
  • Develop schedules to manage internal deliverables for consultants and contractors and maintain regular progress reviews and updates, with the appropriate project stakeholders to ensure robust tracking of key activities and milestones, as well as to monitor progress and quantities of work performed
  • Work within multidisciplinary project teams providing planning support to both the project team and clients
