Coastal Engineer - Engineer III

Job Description

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced analysis and numerical modeling of coastal processes such as currents, waves, storm surge, sediment transport, morphology, and wave-current-structure interaction, and vessel hydrodynamic and mooring analysis preferred.
  • Develop data collection plans for surveying and physical oceanographic data
  • Perform engineering analysis, and design of coastal and marine facilities
  • Assist with Develop plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Provide construction phase services.
  • Report preparation

Candidate Specification

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Coastal, Civil, and/or Structural Engineering or related field
  • Master’s degree or higher in coastal engineering or related field preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to legally work in the United States
  • Proficiency in software for analysis and presentation of technical data, such as MS Excel and Matlab
  • Ability to utilize Autocad software

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in coastal numerical modeling software for such as SWAN, ADCIRC, Delft3D, Genesis, MIKE-21 and SBEACH, and computational fluid dynamics software such as FLOW-3D or OPENFoam.
  • Knowledge of coastal engineering design such as beach nourishment, marsh creation, breakwaters, bulkheads, dredging, and groins
  • Knowledge of marine structures such as bulkhead, marina floats, piers and boat ramps
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
  • Flexibility to travel regionally and internationally
