Job Description

Our Metros and Civils Division comprises of 400 professional staff. We provide thought leadership, high quality design services, and advisory services to wide ranging projects and Clients. These range from major infrastructure projects in the UK such as high-speed infrastructure, port and bridge developments, to working as expert witnesses and coastal policy. We require a Marketing and Communications Executive to work with our Development Manager to support and help grow the Metro & Civils business.

You will be involved in a variety of responsibilities including the following:

Internal Communications
  • Responsible for mapping out and managing the communications strategy for the Division
  • Responsibility for knowledge management contribution and interaction within the wider Mott MacDonald Group
  • Including but not limited to a SharePoint based site, intranet pages, company social network, Divisional General Manager and Development Manager bulletins, Internal Newsletters
  • Co-ordinate articles for external publications

External Communications
  • Liaising with industry associations
  • Identify interesting events/opportunities including business cases for attendance at events
  • Programme management and coordination of division participation at key industry events
  • Produce evaluation of events and follow up on action points
  • Manage the coordination and delivery of post-event follow ups with contacts
  • Facilitation of content for and editing / proofreading of thought leadership pieces, articles for trade press, press releases, white papers, etc. Coordinate with Business Development Services (BDS) press team to disseminate externally
  • Set up and run campaigns including preparing and disseminating external mailings and providing insight into campaign success rates
  • Preparing web and social media content, coordinating with BDS to publish externally
  • Act as a secretariat to senior managers in their roles as chairpersons on national industry boards including the planning and programme management of resources for associated board events

Development and Marketing of New Products and Services
  • Responsible for assisting the Development Manager and division Leaders with defining market strategies and implementation in line with the workstream business development plan; including assisting in the marketing of new tools or services
  • Ensure that marketing literature is up to date, focused and relevant to our target clients and working closely with Bid Managers to prepare;
    • Content for flyers and other marketing collaterals using InDesign to Group standards and manage marketing stock in office
    • Presentations, posters, as required
    • Infographics and graphical elements of marketing material and image library
    • Key project summaries
    • Materials for proposals as required

Business Development Management & Business Intelligence
  • Actively manage and coordinate competitor and partner intelligence mapping
  • Development of a strategy for communication of business intelligence within the Divisional network and the wider Group
  • Proactively suggest and follow up on actions from the Divisional General Manager,
    Development Manager and Account Leaders within the Division
  • Share best practice and skills with other Transportation Business Development representatives
  • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of the key Client Account management system
  • Other duties as may be required, including ad hoc bid assistance

Candidate Specification

Ideally you will demonstrate a combination of the following:
  • Experience in setting and executing a communications strategy
  • Experience working as a marketing communications professional
  • Strong project management skills
  • Expertise managing websites (content management systems) and social media sites
  • Experience producing written and visual marketing material
  • Excellent communication skills and able to relate to others at all levels
  • Previous administration experience supporting multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to provide excellent Client service
  • Flexible attitude to undertake a wide range of tasks within the office
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload in order to meet deadlines

Additionally, you will demonstrate the following technical qualifications and skills:
  • Degree in business administration, marketing or similar discipline
  • Advanced user of SharePoint
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Adobe InDesign and Illustrator experience
  • Use of Mail Chimp and/or other online email generation tools
