Job Profile

Predict; prepare; protect - We undertake top quality coastal modelling for flooding, morphodynamical and water quality services, working to help our clients to understand and mitigate flood risk, maintain the quality of coastal and estuarine habitats, design more resilient infrastructure, and prepare for the challenges that climate change will pose. Demand for these services continues to grow, and in response to this we are keen to engage a talented coastal modeller to strengthen our well-established team of numerical modellers, hydrologists and environmental scientists. This position can be offered on a full-time or a part-time basis.

Job Description

You will work closely with our teams of engineers and technical specialists to deliver a wide range of coastal projects for UK and international clients, having specialist responsibilities to deliver numerical models and to analyse and interpret model results. These may include hydrodynamic, wave and sediment, and water quality models. Opportunities to apply your knowledge to river modelling will be provided to enhance and develop your career. Your input will help our internal teams and external clients to deliver complex multidisciplinary projects that will provide great benefits to local communities.

Candidate Specification

  • Relevant degree-level qualifications (e.g. civil/coastal engineering, geography, mathematics, oceanography, or other related disciplines). MSc/MEng or MA preferable.
  • Good understanding of coastal processes and coastal geomorphology.
  • Demonstration of previous delivery of coastal studies / modelling. Desirable 2-3 years of experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of hydrodynamic issues associated with coastal engineering including MetOcean data, wave run-up, over-topping assessments, etc
  • Competent in modelling and geo-spatial software packages (eg: MIKE 21, SWAN, Delft3, FEH, ArcGIS)
