Trainee Digital Designer

Our team is welcoming a new leader in Advanced Computational Design and we are seeking to grow our team further with a new trainee Digital Designer for our structural digital modelling team in Auckland.

Job Description

Our team consists of digital modellers and uses various tools to deliver structural designs. This includes Revit as one of the primary modelling tools however we use many others. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is also a process of design that we follow, but we are also involved in the development of the digital engineering workflow, advanced geometry, parametric processes and imagery.

As our newest team member, you will have completed a relevant tertiary qualification with strong computer literacy and have some experience in modelling packages. A background in computer programming and algorithm generation will also be beneficial.

This role will allow you to develop your modelling skillset in a variety of packages with Revit as the primary tool which will flow through to an understanding of building information modelling (BIM) and the application of parametric processes.

You will gain a high level of skill in software applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUP, 3D Studio Max and Navisworks to create and modify design models for buildings, structures and engineered elements.

Instruction and assistance will come from the mentoring of senior staff to produce structural models, drawings, details as well as drawings from 3D models for use in technical reports, presentations and marketing material.

• Varied building engineering project experience using multiple materials
• Some knowledge of building information modelling, its process and implementation
• Industry relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; Professional Degree Preferred
• A background of computer programming or algorithm generation
