Mechanical design engineer

Job Profile

Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is working in partnership with Northumbrian Water on a design and build framework to deliver both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the North East. As a result, we are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with strong water/wastewater industry design experience to join our growing team in Seaham, County Durham.

Job Description

You will be involved in providing innovative solutions to our client and we offer a highly supportive and collaborative environment within which to further build your career. The role will involve working on feasibility design, through to the commissioning stages.

You will represent MMB in technical meetings with our clients, and potentially support the work of more junior staff, providing technical and professional guidance to assist their development. We offer a highly supportive and collaborative environment within which to further build your career.

About the role:

• Produce design documents which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be purchased, installed and commissioned effectively
• Ensure a safe working environment
• Ensure that standard designs and design practices are utilised wherever possible
• Manage cost effective mechanical designs by other mechanical and assistant mechanical engineers
• Agree the design cost budget and monitor performance against the budget
• Delivering the design stage outputs of each project within the agreed timescale and budget
• Coordinating design outputs across all technical disciplines

Candidate Specification

  • Qualified mechanical design engineer with experience in the UK water industry
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience of delivering projects to requirements and deadlines
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering innovation
  • Proven client liaison and communication skills
  • Proactive approach, with an ability to adapt to changing scenarios
  • A high level of competence in the principles of water and sewerage treatment
Salary range is competitive, commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications
