Job Description

Mott MacDonald seeks a skilled and motivated water/wastewater engineer for our Iselin, NJ office. Working with a team of dedicated water and wastewater engineers to design local and regional projects. This position will focus on municipal wastewater treatment projects, stormwater, and other water/wastewater projects.

Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Design engineering/task management for the planning, design, or construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, i.e. wastewater treatment, linear wastewater (sewer systems), and stormwater.
  • Technical coordination with other members of the engineering/construction team
  • Design/production of pumping, storage, or distribution/conveyance facilities for wastewater systems
  • Design/production of sewage pumping and collection systems
  • Design/production of stormwater management projects.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates engineering work involving conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Supervision of less experienced engineers (interns or graduates) or technical support personnel is exercised on an assignment basis and is not an on-going substantial component at this level

Candidate Specification

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering, M.S. Preferred;
  • EIT required, Professional Engineering license preferred or ability to obtain in a reasonable amount of time
  • 3-8 years experience in water/wastewater infrastructure engineering; strong technical aptitude and communications skills.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and automated design tools is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, good writing abilities, strong organizational skills
  • Motivated to develop workplans and budgets, and have a willingness to travel periodically to various project sites
