Job Description

You will join a diverse multidisciplinary team of engineers, town planners and environmental specialists, providing key technical inputs on projects requiring environmental appraisal and environmental impact assessment (EIA). In particular, you will play an integral role in shaping the environmental and sustainability outcomes on Northern Powerhouse, HS2, and the Environment Agency’s Water and Environment Framework.

You will be responsible for the management, scoping, preparation and delivery of environmental appraisals and assessments, programming EIA processes, environmental risk management, and the co-ordination of environmental, social and sustainability specialists.

You will also be involved in monitoring resources, managing budgets, project management, assisting with contract and risk management, and attend client meetings. Furthermore, you will take part in business development activities, including the preparation of fee estimates and writing proposals.

Candidate Specification

  • Degree in a relevant environmental subject, and ideally a relevant professional qualification
  • Demonstrable knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) and relevant legislation in the UK
  • Successful track-record in environmental project management
  • Excellent ‘self-starting’ capabilities.
  • Ability to influence clients, stakeholders, regulators and other government agencies, while ensuring project-related environmental and sustainability concerns/opportunities are identified and addressed
  • There may be a requirement to spend periods of time in other company offices (either Mott MacDonald or client offices in the UK), so flexibility in your approach to work is essential
