IT asset manager

Job Profile

You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of technology assets, including software licenses, computer hardware and infrastructure services. The role is focused on ensuring that the Group maximises the utilisation of its IT assets, whilst maintaining an effective compliance state. This individual will be a principal contact for the business in developing and executing appropriate strategies for the provision and use of IT assets, working as a member of a global team delivering ITAM services across the group.

We are ideally looking for someone to be based in Croydon, however we can also consider Cambridge and Southampton as locations as long as you're happy to travel to Croydon on occasion. There will be flexibility to work from home when the need arises.

Job Description

What you’ll be doing…

The IT asset manager is responsible for managing software licenses and hardware assets, ensuring the timely fulfilment of business demands, while maximizing the utilization and cost of assets.

Asset management

You’ll work closely with the business on software selection and purchase and seek opportunities to standardize software products. Ensuring compliance at all times, you will define and maintain license entitlement, hardware and contract and consumption records within the Configuration Management System (CMS). You’ll also maintain payment records for recharging costs to business units for the use of software and hardware.

The financial side

The role will involve liaising with vendors and internal departments to resolve payment questions and support the businesses on queries related to cost recovery, allocation and budgeting. You’ll assist with the execution of financial, operational, audit and special projects as required, and carry out ad hoc research and report generation as requested by the Finance team, Information Technology, and business units.

Candidate Specification

What we’re looking for…

We’re on the lookout for someone with strong experience as an asset manager, inventory administrator or IT Finance/Audit analyst, with a strong analytical track record. A degree in an IT, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance or business related discipline would be great, however experience can be considered in lieu of this. Any formal accreditations in ITIL v3 and or IT Asset Management would be helpful.

We’re also looking for someone with;
  • Solid working knowledge of data processing with advanced level proficiency in Excel. Experience with database management systems, data warehousing, query languages and report generators desirable but not required
  • Knowledge of software licensing rules and terms, budgets, forecasts, procurement, project management, contract management, internal billing and budgeting
  • We use ServiceNow and SNOW at Mott MacDonald so experience with these would be helpful, however experience with any popular ITSM tools will be considered
  • Experience in managing internal software compliance and vendor audits
  • Hardware asset management and infrastructure services (such as network services, datacenter equipment, digital networks), performing tasks such as purchasing, inventory, spend analysis, vendor tracking, disposal and stakeholder communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
