Mott MacDonald’s Altrincham office is seeking a Graduate Technical Advisor to support on the development of building accommodation and infrastructure projects from feasibility through to procurement of a contractor, design development and construction.

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Graduate Technical Advisor to support the Strategic Consultancy Services team in the North West.

You will need to have technical experience in building accommodation or infrastructure projects. Experience and/or appreciation of technical project management, feasibility studies, contractor procurement and stakeholder engagement is preferable.

The role will be client facing requiring strong communication skills both written and verbal. You will also be co-ordinating inputs from multi-disciplinary teams in undertaking technical reviews of contractors’ tender responses and contract works information.

Ideally, you will be based in the Northwest and will be willing to travel within the UK. In particular, between offices in Altrincham and Liverpool where our technical advisory teams work in close collaboration to provide our services.

A car and valid full UK driving licence is essential.

Candidate Specification

Provide technical advisory services to public sector clients on building accommodation and infrastructure projects such as schools, universities, hospitals, and infrastructure.

This includes:
  • Undertaking feasibility studies
  • Supporting site due diligence and risk identification
  • Scoping and procuring surveys
  • Overseeing the development of site massing and concept options including costings
  • Business case preparation
  • Co-ordinating engagement meetings with stakeholders and contractors
  • Supporting contractor procurement including tender evaluation, design development and contractor’s work information for contract.

The role requires the ideal candidate to have 1 to 2 years technical background and an understanding of building design. It also requires excellent organisation skills, a drive to get things done, and strong communication skills.
