Job Description

We are looking for an environmental services business development manager to position the group’s environment services capabilities in front of existing and potential clients.
This a senior, high profile role. The successful candidate will serve as pipeline unit’s main point of contact for energy related environmental services, in close liaison with the senior leadership team.
We’re looking for someone who is already well established in the American oil, gas and power markets, with detailed knowledge of customers and their needs.

You will report to the environmental manager located in Salt Lake City.
We would prefer the environmental services lead to be in our Houston office but are willing to entertain other office locations.

Acting as the environmental services project principal, your key responsibilities will include:
  • establishing client relationships and developing opportunities for Mott MacDonald’s environmental services including field surveys, permitting, and inspection services for oil, gas, and power related projects
  • provide technical support in client, stakeholder and public consultations; act as technical expert and provide advice and solutions to meet the client’s requirements
  • take responsibility for project delivery including time, cost, co-ordination and stakeholder management
  • directly participating in the oversight of project teams responsible for environmental site assessment, wetland delineations, threatened & endangered species habitat assessment, field surveys, NEPA documentation, environmental report/permit development, constraint mapping, and public involvement support
  • preparing and reviewing permit applications and conducting consultation with agency staff as required under Sections 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act, Sections 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act, reviewing wetland delineations and biological inventories; conducting routing studies and impact analysis for NEPA documents
  • preparing proposals, cost estimates, and staffing plans for environmental projects and services

Candidate Specification

What you will need:
  • a degree in environmental science or a biological discipline; holding a Master degree would be an advantage
  • ten years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with five years at the project manager level
  • experience permitting large-scale energy projects and conducting field surveys with specific experience with oil and natural gas pipeline projects and the FERC (Natural Gas Act) permitting process
  • the ability to prepare and interpret complex reports, recognize problems and define and evaluate solutions
  • motivation with a customer focus including substantial experience in business management and strategic business development
  • an excellent network across the American oil and gas market
  • proactive, results-oriented, multi-tasker outlook
  • successful experience in large, complex multi-disciplinary projects will be an asset
  • excellent teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
