Job Profile

Mott MacDonald France has been created 7 years ago to better address the local market while opening a gateway on the Belgium and French speaking Africa markets. Our advisory and team delivers services to a wide variety of projects ranging in scale and complexity from €million’s to €2bn, through the technical disciplines of project management, scheduling, cost management, infrastructure finance, management consulting and education management.

Our Infrastructure Advisory practitioners are active in the Built Environment, Energy, International Development, Transport, and Water sectors.

We help our customers understand the nature of risk and opportunity in infrastructure development, and the sustainable value of their endeavour – funding, financing, or investment. We do so by providing feasibility, advisory, assurance, and business solutions services of a technical and commercial nature, in large capital project based or corporate related environments.
The beneficiaries of our work are largely infrastructure sponsors and developers, investors, funders, development institutions, regulated and non-regulated asset owners and operators, government departments and agencies, and local authorities or devolved administrations.

Job Description

We are building and Environment and Social team in Paris to develop French speaking markets (with a strong focus on Africa) while assisting all the various sector based infrastructure team on E&S matters in these countries.
  • Providing technical advice to clients as part of a project team, working on schemes through all stages of a project inception and procurement;
  • Developing knowledge of fundamental E&S project issues for a range of sectors;
  • Proactive collaboration and development of relationships internally within the Mott MacDonald E&S and Infrastructure practices networks.
  • Typical assignments will be as follows:
    • Audits, Due Diligence and Monitoring services,
    • International ESIAs
    • Implementation & Management Systems/Plans

Candidate Specification

We are looking to recruit a Project Manager in our Infrastructure Advisory team active in France, Belgium, Francophone Africa and internationally in collaboration with various parts of the Group.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Minimum of 3 yearsexperience;
  • Good understanding of Environmental issues in the context of Project Finance, infrastructure development / International Financial Institutions funded projects;
  • Ideally with several years hand-on experience in Project Finance, Investment banking sector, Development agency or with a major contractor;
  • Possess excellent French & English verbal and written communication skills. A third European language would be highly appreciated.
  • Engineering, business, or legal academic background;

  • An autonomous PM, comfortable in taking initiative and responsibility;
  • Able to prioritise and plan effectively while balancing competing demands;
  • Positive attitude, team player;
  • Excellent client facing skills and team leadership;
  • A good verbal communicator and ability to prepare precise and clear written reports;
  • Flexibility and interest to contribute to a wide range of assignments;
  • Self-motivated and willing to undertake a wide range of tasks;
  • Confident to deal with areas and issues outwit immediate experience;
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude at dealing with lots of interfaces, including technical, commercial / contractual, and personal / stakeholder;
  • Ability to critically analyse data, identify its importance, advise on its shortcomings and how it should be improved;
  • A willingness to travel and work on a short-term basis in countries across France, Europe and Francophone Africa (sometimes at short notice) as required;
  • Well organised, with strong planning and management skills.
Education and professional Membership
  • Master Degree in a related discipline (social scientist, social economist, environmentalist or generalist engineering profile with previous E&S experience)
