Project Manager - Engineering & Design

Job Profile

Mott MacDonald’s Liverpool office located in the Royal Liver Building is seeking a Technical Advisor to lead on the development of building accommodation projects from feasibility through to procurement of a contractor, design development and construction.

Job Description

To provide technical advisory services to public sector clients on building accommodation projects such as schools, hospitals, housing plus infrastructure.

This includes:
  • Undertaking feasibility studies
  • Site due diligence and risk identification
  • Scoping and procuring surveys
  • Overseeing the development of site massing and concept options including costings
  • Business case preparation
  • Leading and co-ordinating engagement meetings with stakeholders and contractors
  • Contractor procurement including tender evaluation, design development and contractor’s work information for contract.

The role requires the candidate to be familiar with building design, technically competent and have previous exposure to a range of project sectors. It also requires excellent organisation skills, a drive to get things done, and the ability to communicate complex issues to lay persons. Being a team player is essential including the coaching and mentoring junior members of staff. Candidate Specification

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Technical Project Manager to lead projects and support the Strategic Consultancy Services team in the North West.

The candidate will be/have:
  • Preferably be chartered with a technical and commercial background in building accommodation projects.
  • Client facing with strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience and/or appreciation of feasibility studies, contractor procurement, stakeholder engagement, cost plans and technical due diligence.
  • Used to working alongside public sector clients, stakeholders, architects, cost consultants, lawyers and contractors.
  • Be able to manage and co-ordinate the inputs from multi-disciplinary teams in undertaking technical reviews of contractors’ tender responses and contract works information.

Ideally, you will be based in the Northwest and will be willing to travel within the UK. In particular, between offices in Liverpool and Altrincham where our technical advisory teams work in close collaboration to provide our services.

A car and valid full UK driving licence is essential.
