All change at the top of Mott MacDonald’s transportation business

Richard, who has been with the company since 1998, was previously Mott MacDonald’s head of Railways. Dr. James Martin, who joined the company from Network Rail earlier this year, takes over from Richard as head of Railways.

Richard Williams will be responsible for a business unit comprising over 2000 transportation professionals generating an annual turnover of around £130 million covering railways, highways, airports, sea ports, metro and heavy civil engineering and transportation planning. Commenting on his appointment Richard said, “I am particularly pleased to be taking over from Ron Williams who is leaving Mott MacDonald’s transportation business in excellent shape. It is my intention to continue growing the business through diversification into new international markets and the provision of new services and products adding further value to the Mott MacDonald Group and the customers we serve.”

James Martin is an experienced company director with 30 years experience in civil, mechanical and electrical asset engineering in railways, energy and water both within an international engineering consultancy and as an owner/operator/funder. At Network Rail James was directly responsible to a Board comprising Network Rail, government ministries and the UK rail regulator for the total reorganisation, re-specification, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the West Coast Main Line programme, Europe’s largest infrastructure project at £8000 million.
