Mott MacDonald formalises designs on Vietnam – in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung

Mott MacDonald’s Group Board chairman, Peter Wickens and Pham Hung, President and CEO of Lilama Corporation today signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung and the Lord
Mayor of London at Mansion House in the City of London.

Mott MacDonald, the global engineering, management and development consultancy and Lilama Corporation, a major player in industrial and power development in Vietnam, signed this Memorandum to signal their formal intention to work together to
bid for the project management role on a major power plant programme in Vietnam.

Peter Wickens commented, “As a result of a booming economy Vietnam’s demand for electricity is expected to increase by 15.8% this year and investment in power is high on the country’s economic agenda. Mott MacDonald is a global leader in energy consultancy and as such it’s a natural move for us to want to join forces with Lilama Corporation, a major player in Vietnam’s energy sector, to pool our project management expertise where it is needed. We are delighted and honoured that Pham Hung is here with us to sign this Memorandum.”

Vietnam is seeing an unprecedented boom in its economy with substantial growth in both exports and investment. If successful in bidding for the power plant programme, this memorandum will enhance Mott MacDonald’s business presence in Vietnam, furthering Mott MacDonald’s plans for expansion in Asia Pacific. The 13,000 strong, $1.5 billion turnover group currently operates in around 120 countries around the world including China, Singapore and Thailand.

Over the last ten years, Mott MacDonald has provided support in Vietnam on a variety of projects including a power plant, an education programme, a bridge design, water resource management, maritime and health programme management.
