Mott MacDonald, in collaboration with Leicester City Council and
Kizoom* has helped develop a new website to provide traffic and
travel information for Leicester and Rutland.
The website, www.leicestertravel.info, provides users with a variety of information including latest road work news, car park occupancy, CCTV images and real-time bus stop information. The website works by pulling together information from a number of internal sources previously inaccessible to the public. This means users only have to visit one site to find travel information for the Leicester area.
Mott MacDonald was employed to develop a system that collates all the operational data required for the website. The system then feeds this data to the public website, which was developed by Kizoom.
Mott MacDonald project manager Pete McLeod said, “We thoroughly enjoyed working on this interesting project, the appointment builds on our earlier work on other traffic information systems for Leicester City Council and it is hoped the website can be further enhanced to bring more real time information to the public.”
Pawel Obszynski of Leicester City Council stated, “Mott MacDonald’s extensive experience in this area, coupled with a pragmatic approach to working across team boundaries, really helped bring this system together for us.”
