An option being considered is a strategic sewer at depth, linked to the Thames Tideway Tunnel, which is being built to improve the water quality of the River Thames. An important consideration for the design is the influence of these two major assets on each other.
Our modelling team is supporting various teams working on different elements of CCFAS, overseeing survey and design changes throughout the project. Good co-operation between our modelling team and the Tideway modelling team was critical and the co-ordination of model changes needed careful management. In particular, the complex real-time control (RTC) covers the model elements of both CCFAS and Tideway, so consistency in modelled data was necessary to maintain the correct operation of the RTC.
Effective collaboration between the CCFAS and Tideway teams has resulted in the selection of two key design options. Different scenario models for varying severity of events were produced for both cases and these were closely managed through common history documentation and version control logs. The scheme is one of the largest InfoWorks ICM studies undertaken to date in the UK.
