The CPD programme will be part of the wider social work reform agenda and will focus on supporting social workers to have the skills and knowledge to:
- Choose the right permanence option for each child, based on a thorough knowledge of each option and the impact of delay on a child’s life chances
- Identify wider services and support, set out in a care plan, and delivered to help children recover from previous experiences to achieve stability
- Navigate the legal processes with skill (including the ability to perform well in the court arena)
- Identify a suitable carer/arrangement (being mindful of unconscious bias) and treated with respect
- Support families in transition and beyond (including through disruption or breakdown)
