We applied skills and knowledge gained from working in the hydropower industry to the Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project, playing a key role in the development of a variable speed turbine solution that is designed to pump and generate in two directions to harness maximum electrical energy from the tidal cycles.
The 320MW plant is designed to provide, on average, 14 hours of reliable renewable electricity generation every day, powering over 155,000 homes.
The scheme represents what would be a significant step in the development of a world-leading tidal power engineering solution that can be applied elsewhere in the UK and globally where conditions allow.
