Opportunity
As foreign and internal investment increases within Indian cities, the need for climate resilient infrastructure develops even more. This has therefore meant that our client, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, has asked us to understand the climate induced risks faced by Indian cities and planned infrastructure, as well as to suggest policy and investment responses based on UK experience and expertise.
Solution
In order to understand the climate risks that Indian cities face, we decided to develop risk profiles for the cities Indore and Amravati. We also created a framework/tool, for a decision support system, that city level policy makers would be able to use.
Outcome
Through creating the risk profiles, we were able to gain a robust insight into the vulnerability and exposure to climate change impacts faced by infrastructure and people in Indian cities. We were also able to identify hotspots for priority action, and ultimately protection of Indian and foreign investments in Indian cities.
