Nakoso IGCC Power GK (Co-financed by Mitsubishi Corporation Power Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, TEPCO Holdings Co., Ltd., and Joban Joint Power Co., Ltd.) is building a thermal power plant of 543,000 kW class in Nakoso City, Fukushima Prefecture. This power station is a coal-fired power plant that has further improved power generation efficiency in comparison to state-of-the-art conventional type coal-fired power generation, and employs state-of-the-art coal gasification combined power generation technology.
The fuel used is coal with a low ash melting point, which was difficult to use in conventional coal power generation, and the generated electric power will be sold to TEPCO EP. Project finance is used to raise funds for the construction and operation of this power station, the major domestic banks are also involved in the construction and operation of this power station.
