Civil engineering and construction company JN Bentley has achieved ‘platinum’ status for environmental management and performance in Business in the Community’s (BITC) Environment Index 2015.
A score of 97% places the business alongside the very top performing companies – including long-standing client, Yorkshire Water – and sees an improvement on the ‘gold’ status achieved in 2014.
BITC’s Environment Index is a detailed environmental assessment that enables us to benchmark our environmental performance and management against other organisations in the industry and beyond.
It focuses on five key impact areas; Corporate Strategy, Integration, Management, Performance and Disclosure.
This year’s results showed that we outperformed our peers in 4 out of the 5 key impact areas; failing to score 100% on just one occasion.
Achieving ‘platinum’ status is evidence of JN Bentley’s on-going commitment to engineer sustainable outcomes for our environment by recognising the impact of our projects and working to deliver innovative solutions.
Discussing JN Bentley’s approach to environmental management, Engineering Director John Greenwood commented, “As a responsible contractor, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously, taking action to reduce our impact for ourselves, our clients and future generations.”
The 2015 Environment Index result provides assurances that our efforts to minimise our environmental impacts continue to have a positive effect.
