Mott MacDonald appointed on Czech integrated transport planning project

Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Ceske Budejovice City Council -Czech Republic, South Bohemia region - on a major integrated transport planning project to meet the needs of the region’s growing economy.

The Council has identified that the City’s current transport system will not sustain its growing population and there is insufficient data and guidance to help inform future improvements. This project is being introduced to provide the transportation policy for development of all modes of transport for the City of Ceske Budejovice and its connecting networks for the foreseeable future.

Mott MacDonald’s commission comprises several phases from conducting large scale surveys of existing road traffic and pedestrian travel behaviour and assessing their impacts on the environment in terms of noise, safety and pollution, to using this data to develop a new transportation model and providing guidance on investment priorities for new infrastructure. The project team will also carry out an assessment of existing transport modes as well as present options for better integration of transport nodes which will help inform integrated transport plans for 2010, 2020 and 2030. Mott MacDonald’s team will work in close consultation with the public and Council of Ceske Budejovice City Council to help deliver comprehensive policy and the integrated transport plans for the future.

Ondrej Kokes, Mott MacDonald’s project director said, “We are delighted to bring our world class experience and local knowledge to help Ceske Budejovice City Council develop integrated transport plans that will sustain the growth of the City and surrounding districts for decades to come. The range and multi-modality of this transportation plan is not very common in the Czech environment so this is a very exciting commission.”

Mott MacDonald’s appointment on this project runs until late 2009.
