Mott MacDonald recently received a Recognition Award for its work as environmental and social oversight consultant on the Mongolia Compact from Millennium Challenge Account –Mongolia (MCA-Mongolia). It marks the end of a 5-year, USD285 million programme, which was initiated by the United States and Mongolian governments to reduce poverty through economic growth.
MCA-Mongolia comprised six projects – property rights, energy and environment, peri-urban rangeland, health, vocational education and training and road. Mott MacDonald’s role included environmental and social assessments, preparation and monitoring of environmental management plans, development of resettlement action plans, preparation of hazardous materials management plans and development of a project-wide gender integration plan, as well as public consultation, capacity building and training activities.
Caroline la Chapelle, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “It is very satisfying to see new policies and guidelines that we developed being adopted by the Mongolian government. This award is recognition of the skills and knowledge our experts possess which has ultimately led to the successful implementation of this project.”
