Mott MacDonald project selected to promote innovation and excellence within the Northern Irish construction industry

Constructing Excellence in Northern Ireland (CEni) has chosen a project involving Mott MacDonald to promote innovation in local construction and encourage best practice across the Northern Irish construction industry.

The Belfast Schools Strategic Partnering Project has been selected by CEni as a ‘Demonstration Project’ to represent best practice in procurement and integration, and client leadership. The chosen projects form part of the UK Constructing Excellence Demonstration Programme, which involves the selection of ‘live construction projects’ that are innovating or applying an element of best practice, which will ultimately lead to a step-change in project performance for the organisations involved.

The Belfast Schools Strategic Partnering Project is a partnership between the Belfast Education and Library Board and AmeyFMP. Amey FMP is a company lead by Amey Ventures Investments Limited together with partners Farrans, H&J Martin and Patton Group. The partnership will delver the modernisation programme for the controlled schools estate in Belfast for the next seven years. Mott MacDonald is the Amey FMP supply chain partner for civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering.

Mott MacDonald’s project manager for the scheme, Bill Dowey commented, “It’s a great privilege to be involved in a Demonstration Project, and to be given the chance to demonstrate leadership and share best practice through the CEni initiative. The Strategic Partnering Project marks a turning point for education in Belfast, we are assisting in the process of delivering leading-edge schools and community facilities that will transform the educational experience for children and young people in Belfast. To have the opportunity to share our technical expertise, as well as learn from others participating in the scheme, provides a valuable way of transferring knowledge within the construction industry.”

Those involved in Demonstration Projects will be invited to take part in communities of best practice, which bring together like-minded individuals from across various Demonstrations, all committed to delivering a demonstrably better built environment.
