UK health specialist Courtyard Group UK joins Mott MacDonald to expand its health sector capabilities

Mott MacDonald has acquired independent healthcare specialists Courtyard UK from the Courtyard Group in North America. This move follows the successful acquisition of clinical and healthcare management consultancy Teamwork Management Services last year and strengthens Mott MacDonald’s position as a market leader in the provision of advisory services to the health and social care sector in the UK, Ireland and elsewhere around the world.

The Courtyard team bring clinicians, health economists, hospital operations experts and specialists in health informatics and finance with a track record in improving healthcare which fits well with Mott MacDonald’s existing change management and clinical best practice knowledge base and experience. There are new service offerings in quality observatories, information management and technology, procurement of systems, portfolio management and benefits realisation, which expands the breadth of service delivery solutions for clients.

These service offerings add to Mott MacDonald’s uniqueness in being able to work with the NHS and other organisations within a local health community. Mott MacDonald has the experience to integrate clinical and healthcare expertise with social care, social marketing and market research, education, transport, buildings and estate.

Both companies believe that joining forces will bring benefits to staff and customers alike. Richard Birch, Mott MacDonald’s head of health and education, believes that Courtyard is an ideal fit with the Group’s existing skills. “Courtyard brings clinical experience with a focus on healthcare transformation, which fits well with our existing change management and clinical best practice knowledge base and experience. Combining the talents of Courtyard staff with our own health and social care team means we will be able to offer our clients an all embracing service.”

Andrew Hartshorn, managing director of Courtyard UK, is equally enthusiastic about the opportunities that joining the Mott MacDonald Group will bring. “Having direct access to the Group’s global network and resources will enable us to offer our clients greater access to people and knowledge on healthcare issues across the world. It will also provide staff with opportunities to work on a more diverse range of projects – along with the benefits of broader career development prospects.”
