Working with a local partner, Mott MacDonald assisted the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic in developing the €4M scheme from its early study phases through to the approved detailed design stage, including the preparation of documents for international tendering – all within a record eight-month time period.
Part of this work entailed us preparing a detailed technical and economic feasibility study for the scheme and completing an application for Phare grant funding.
Development comprised rebuilding the railway underpass, relocating public utilities, reconstructing and widening a 200m long section of dual two-lane carriageway beneath an approaching underpass, and reconstructing the adjacent road junction and 1.1km of road in the direction towards the border crossing with Poland. In total, this complex project entailed more than 40 construction elements.
