Apps on tablets are revolutionising how information is gathered, speeding up decisions on introducing improvements.
For decades the Tanzanian government has based education decision-making on paper records, many of which were out of date. We helped tackle the problem by creating a digital data collection and management system in partnership with not-for-profit development organisation FHI 360.
The School Information System app is preloaded on tablets that are distributed to head teachers and local government education officers. It has revolutionised the keeping of daily attendance and pupil performance records.
Data is sent directly from schools to secure government servers. The information can then be used to introduce evidence based improvements.
