Mott MacDonald wins its third Queen’s Award for international performance in nine years

Mott MacDonald has won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for outstanding achievement in International Trade – its third Queen’s Award for international performance in nine years. Building on its 1996 and 1998 awards, the management, development and engineering consultancy with a current turnover of £470 million, doubled its exports between 2000 and 2002 (the period covered by the latest award) while last year’s international earnings – from work in over 100 countries – reached £203 million.

In realising these levels of development, Mott MacDonald has pursued an ongoing policy of organic growth, strategic acquisition and joint ventures – resulting in a ranking of 35 on the 2004 Sunday Times PriceWaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100. Following this approach, Mott MacDonald has added a thriving water and environmental business to an already successful operation in North America’s transportation market, strengthened its presence in India’s infrastructure and industry sectors and established businesses in Poland and the Czech Republic to leverage opportunities in the EU accession countries. Mott MacDonald has also expanded into the international health consultancy market with the acquisition of the HLSP Group and made successful inroads into Australia’s emerging market for privately financed infrastructure.

Mike Blackburn, Mott MacDonald’s chairman says, “This award is testament to our staff’s commitment and resolve in meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations. As we expand our contribution in sectors ranging from building and education through to health and transportation, our global company values of progress, respect, integrity, drive and excellence propel our approach to enhancing our own business as well as that of our customers.”
