What attracted you to apply for a role with us?
A close friend of mine who had recently started working at Mott MacDonald recommended joining the company. Having researched Mott MacDonald, I was impressed by our exceptional presence in the UK rail market and believed that I would be provided opportunities to work on a variety of projects.
How did you find the recruitment process?
Recruitment processes can be stressful, especially for someone coming from outside the EU. However, I found my recruitment experience to be straight forward. The recruitment team were helpful in arranging interviews promptly and stayed in touch throughout the whole process, keeping me updated with the progress of my application.
What are the three things that make you look forward to coming into work each day?
There are a lot of reasons that make me want to come to the office every day, but what I absolutely love about my job is there is something new to learn every day. The atmosphere makes me happy to come to work, everyone is willing to help and support you and I love the relaxed and fun environment. I especially look forward to our social gatherings after work.
What’s your team like?
My team are fun to work with, very capable and extremely knowledgeable. The team are highly cooperative, willing and available to help everyone when needed.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Working with different people from various backgrounds on challenging projects and learning new things from different people. I also enjoy the exposure I get from working with clients and travelling to different offices.
How has your career progressed since joining?
Since joining I have been encouraged to take on more responsibility and within a short period of time, I became a project manager responsible for different clients and projects. I have managed different types of design projects with a variety of clients, from public sector to private sector. I have worked closely with different teams from offices across the UK.
What makes us stand out from other companies?
The empowering culture. In my time with Mott MacDonald, I have been given a lot of responsibilities and everyone is always available to support you towards success. Even though It’s a global company, there are many networks and forums which help you access expertise from people all over the world. The social events organised by the company are exceptional, providing regular opportunities to meet new people within the company.
What is your favourite pastime?
I absolutely love reading and playing sports of all kinds, this accounts for a lot of my free time during the week. On weekends, I like to go out with friends and enjoy nature, it is a great way to relax and prepare for the coming week.
Where is your favourite place in the world?
Wadi Rum, it is an incredible red sand desert in the south region of Jordan. The landscape is breath-taking, it feels like you have left earth. It’s famous for the amazing clear skies and magnificent sunsets.
