Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I joined Mott MacDonald through an acquisition that Mott MacDonald made of Franklin + Andrews in 2002. At the time I was really excited and motivated by the chance to work for a truly global business – the opportunities within a business like Mott MacDonald are endless.
What is the best thing about your role?
The variety of work that I have had in the past and continue to have now is the best thing about my role. I have been lucky enough to go from project work, to running a small office in Exeter, to running our Western Region which consisted of offices in Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff to being responsible for business development and strategic direction of our programme, project and cost management unit.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
It’s a very open and collaborative culture.
How many years have you worked for Mott MacDonald, and what has been your proudest achievement to date?
I have worked for Mott MacDonald for 22 years now. My proudest achievement has been taking responsibility for supporting and mentoring our quantity surveying graduates as they try to get their professional chartered qualification with the RICS and eventually getting to a 100% success rate!
What is your favourite past time?
I’m a big skiing fanatic and try to go once a year – I’d go more if I could afford it but my wife also demands a summer holiday!
Where is your favourite place?
I love Banff in Alberta, Canada. It’s a fantastic town, great scenery and the skiing is something else.
