I decided to join Mott MacDonald because of the diversity of projects they are involved with but also the locations which these projects are based. I feel while working at Mott MacDonald I will have continuous encouragement and support in order to develop my professional career. Due to Mott MacDonald being a global company with a diverse network of professional roles I believe I will get a huge amount of work experience in my future working with excellent teams of people. Mott MacDonald has a fantastic reputation within the industry but also how they treat their staff with a great deal of respect and equality.
What is the best thing about your role?
The best thing about my role is the team who I work with. I enjoy working alongside a range of skilled and experienced people as I feel this develops my career due to sharing their experiences, problems and how these issues have been resolved in the past. I have support whenever I need it from them, and feel that my opinion is valued within the team.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
It is based around team work and the pride we all take within our work to deliver high quality products to the clients. The culture here encourages each and every person to progress their career, widen their knowledge and continuously develop their professional skills and experiences. You will always have support at Mott MacDonald; whatever you need it with.
Why did you choose to do the type of work you do?
I chose to train as a civil engineer because of the huge impact civil engineering has on society and the satisfaction of seeing tangible results of your hard work. Not only that, but civil engineering offers a flexible, well-rewarded and diverse career with the chance to work and travel all over the world.
What is your favourite past time?
My favourite past time has got to be riding! I now own an Irish Connemara named Gizmo who has just turned four. So far his schooling and progress is going great, even if it is hard work!
If you were to live anywhere, where would it be?
Canada! The landscape, the nature and the culture; what isn’t there to love?
