Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I wanted to join a well-established, global company that would provide lots of opportunities for development and I was impressed with Mott MacDonald’s ethos and values. The fact that the company is employee owned and is involved in many projects that make our world a better place was also a big draw.
What is the best thing about your role?
Being involved in and having an influence in the strategic direction of the company. In the various units I have worked for in the company, I have always felt listened to by senior managers and that my opinion/advice mattered. I’ve also been very fortunate in that I’ve had very positive relationships with everyone I have worked with/for.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
It is great to work with/for people who are clearly passionate about the work they do and the impact they have on the world. I believe Mott MacDonald is a meritocracy and everyone has their chance to maximise their potential and develop their career if they open their mind to opportunities and seek out new experiences that add value for the business.
How has your career developed at Mott MacDonald?
When I first joined Mott MacDonald I was employed as an HR Assistant in our HR Systems department, and since then I have ‘jumped on’ many of the [what one of my previous managers described as] “buses of opportunity” that have come across my path, resulting in progression through to HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor and now Unit HR Manager. Remaining flexible has also given me the opportunity to work in various UK locations and the UAE.
When you’re not in the office where can you be found?
Usually somewhere with friends or family doing or planning some sporting activity or trip somewhere - I love practically all sports and travelling to far-flung places. Slowly but surely, I am ticking things off my bucket list, which happens to keep getting longer!!!
If you could only eat one food for a whole a day, what would it be?
Meatball Marinara Subway! This may resonate with a few colleagues.
