Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I felt that the business offered wide opportunities to develop my transport interests. This has proved to be the case, particularly developing the passenger transport initiatives in which I specialise as well as a range of wider topics.
What is the best thing about your role?
In addition to project work, I have opportunities to spread the word about our achievements through professional organisations. I am a former chair of the transport planning society which provides excellent networking and profile. I am also involved with other professional institutions so I can exchange views and experiences with clients, potential clients and others. I am currently a director and trustee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and have also been involved in developing and managing professional qualifications.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Continuous reaching out to expand our activities and secure new areas of work underlies much of what we do. Continual improvement accompanies this outreach to ensure that Mott MacDonald gets bigger without sacrificing quality.
Where have you travelled with Mott MacDonald?
From the UK to South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Ireland, Gibraltar and the United Arab Emirates.
What is the best thing about the country you live in?
The best things about Britain are good beer, attractive landscapes plus lots of interesting transport.
What is a random fact about you?
I am a fully qualified bus driver in the UK having been driving buses of all types off and on for 30 years ranging from preserved examples dating from the 1950s to more modern types. This has also informed my project work.
