Can you tell us about your role at Mott MacDonald?
Leading a team of digital enthusiasts to improve and optimise the way we work using digital interventions.
How many years you have been at Mott MacDonald?
18 years
Where are you based?
Delhi-Noida
Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
My decision to join Mott MacDonald 18 years ago was at a time when there was an opportunity to work on the largest project in the city, the redevelopment of the biggest airport in India, the Indira Gandhi International Airport and that convinced me to accept the offer. Every time I fly from this airport, I get goosebumps!
For the first nine years of my career, I worked on several iconic national projects and thereafter on international projects. The journey never ends.
What is the best thing about your current role?
I currently lead the global digital hub and a team of digital enthusiasts who ensure easier, faster and more accurate ways of working for our colleagues and our clients. As we work across a variety of regions, we get to see some of the most complex projects across the globe and the sheer variety of projects is mind boggling.
We are helping deliver some of the largest giga-projects of tomorrow and working to optimise and builds solutions for our teams in finance, carbon, procurement of goods and services, commercial management, sustainability, social transformation and business management systems - the list goes on.
Have you had the opportunity to travel while working on different projects?
I have been extremely fortunate to have had many opportunities to travel whilst working at Mott MacDonald. Whilst working on the Male-Velana International Airport project in the capital city of the Maldives, I visited once a month for almost a year.
Some other memorable trips for me include visiting New Zealand earlier this year and jetting off to Canada where I got to see the Niagara Falls.
Do you have any advice for women who would like to follow a similar path to you?
My advice to those who would like to follow a career like mine is to embrace opportunities as they arrive. Going on site visits, attending a conference, helping with employee engagement, managing business management systems, writing bids, exploring technology and volunteering; they all add up to make a wide spectrum of experience all of which helps in finding your path.
My second piece of advice is to seek support, both in your personal and professional life as there is just no point to struggle alone and there is no shame in taking support.
