We’ve played a key part in the development of Qatar since 1974, especially in the power and water sectors. Some of our most notable projects include the £340 million Ras Abu Fontas B2 plant, an extension to the B plant near Doha, which was created to meet the country’s increasing power and water demand. We provided design review and construction monitoring services during the construction of the plant.
In addition, we were responsible for the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid stadium which was designed and built in only six months. Environmental performance was a huge factor in this project, which meant we had to be extremely innovative in how we created this air conditioned, carbon neutral stadium. This resulted in 200% energy efficiency improvement and 76% thermal energy recovery.
