What attracted you to apply for a role with us?
What drew me in the most was the sense of duty the company felt towards the planet. Even though I wouldn’t be directly involved as a graphic designer, the effort to approach every project with a sustainable solution was very appealing to me. Thinking about tomorrow and not just today.
How did you find the recruitment process?
Very smooth. I was in regular contact with the recruiter before and after the interview which put me at ease and gave me confidence.
What are the three things that make you look forward to coming into work each day?
Working in the field I love, the creative challenges and work colleagues.
What’s your team like?
We’ve got quite a range of characters in the graphics team. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses which adds flavour to the team.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Being given the room to be creative on a regular basis is key and here we have a number of opportunities, sometimes big and sometimes small.
How has your career progressed since joining?
I started as graphic design assistant then I was promoted to graphic designer. As I have grown, the team has recognised my strengths and allowed my role to develop. I’m now focused on the digital front where I excel.
How long have you worked for us, and what has been your proudest achievement to date?
Three years, three months and a couple of days but who’s counting? At the moment the animation of the Hawksbill sea turtle is one of my favourites. It’s the first thing you see on the Mott MacDonald website homepage. It was very challenging as I was trying to recreate the natural movement of a turtle using only a still image. The purpose of the project was to help alleviate the potential stress on the marine environment that would be caused by the development of a power plant in UAE. This was accomplished by creating an artificial reef. Even though I wasn’t directly involved with the project itself, it felt like I was putting the cherry on top of the cake.
What is your favourite pastime?
It would have to be singing and playing the piano in the comfort of my own home.
If you could have lunch with any three people who would they be and why?
Green power ranger – I feel like he was misunderstood. Tom (from Tom and Jerry) – Another character that was misunderstood, suffered immensely at the hands of Jerry. Jesus – To listen to his parables.
