Accelerating Your Future
As soon as you join us a graduate, you will become a member of Accelerating Your Future, a structured development programme for entry level professionals.
Accelerating Your Future will introduce you to key business and commercial competencies, helping you to drive your career forward while improving your personal effectiveness, customer focus, communication, and teamwork.
Summer internships and industrial placements
We want you to be sure about joining us once you leave university. Our range of summer internships and industrial placements are an opportunity for you to get an insight into the industry – and our company. Focusing on one of our many sectors you’ll gain valuable experience by working alongside graduates and experienced professionals. We recruit many of our interns to graduate roles, so a placement can be a great way to launch your career.
As our industrial placements are 12 month contracts, many of our students choose to relocate in order to do a placement so we are able to provide advice about finding suitable accommodation in the area.
Our summer internships last up to eight weeks from June to September and although we have nearly 30 offices across the UK and Ireland, due to the length of our placements we encourage you to apply to locations where you will be able to arrange suitable accommodation.
Join our Inspire Professional Excellence (IPE) network
Coming into Mott MacDonald as a graduate, you will have the opportunity to be part of our global IPE network. The IPE network will provide you with a nurturing and challenging environment in which to expand your horizons, develop new skills, build confidence, and make new connections. This is done through a range of talks, workshops, mentoring and formal and informal learning.

Sports and social
The range of activities organised by our office sports and social committees is almost as diverse as the people who work for us. From our extremely popular footy matches, to theatre trips, quizzes, and inter-office competitions – there is always something to get involved in. You will have the opportunity to expand your social and professional networks by meeting new people across the company. Also, it’s a lot of fun!
Charity and community
Our culture of corporate responsibility is extremely important to our values and we encourage all our staff to get involved.
- Become a STEMNET ambassador and promote engineering to young people
- Links with RedR, Engineers without borders UK and Engineers for Overseas Development

We were also one of the first companies to support the Design Engineer Construct programme with Class of your Own. This innovative school curriculum helps develop young peoples’ skills and understanding of professional careers in construction.

At the start of your career with us you can expect to earn a competitive salary of £26k-£31k (UK) and a very competitive salary for the Republic of Ireland with salary reviews every six months for your ﬁrst three years of employment. On completion of probation, we also share a proportion of the proﬁts among our staff, providing everyone with a yearly bonus.
