Choosing your path

You don’t have to go to university to graduate to the next level. Watch our interactive video below featuring some of our apprentices and managers. You can view it in full screen using the bottom right hand icon.

We offer different levels of apprenticeship. Find out more below and take a look at our handy table which outlines what qualifications you'll receive at each level.

Advanced apprenticeships

For those leaving school with GCSEs or A Levels/Highers looking for Level 3 qualifications, with the potential to progress on to a degree apprenticeship.

Degree apprenticeships

For those leaving with A Levels/Highers looking to get a degree while gaining work experience.

What are your options?

We offer a range of opportunities for you to pursue as an apprentice.

In civil engineering, you'll help to create environments where people can live and flourish. With our apprenticeship, you'll contribute to the design, construction and maintenance of structures, from stadiums and motorways to rail and waterways.

Transport planning

Building services engineering

From keeping houses warm and cosy to providing schools with lighting and power, you'll be working to ensure that buildings are not only comfortable, but also safe and energy efficient while developing skills across a range of applications.

As soon as you join us, you’ll be signed up to attend the apprentice weekend, a two day residential event. It’s a weekend of fun and socialising which will challenge you and allow you to develop your key soft skills.

It doesn’t stop there. An apprenticeship is a great route into the industry. Not only will you be earning a salary straight away but you’ll also get the chance to expand your knowledge by attending university or college once a week. You’ll be given a mentor to support your development while learning from our industry experts on the job and constantly discovering new and exciting things.

Parents and teachers

The decision to pursue an apprenticeship can be a big one. That’s why we’ve put together some facts about our business, as well as apprenticeships as a whole, to make sure you’re as clued up as possible, so you can provide the best guidance and support during the decision-making process.

We’ve been around for a while

We’re a global consultancy, meaning we provide design and advisory services to a variety of major clients across a huge range of disciplines. We were founded in 1902 and we’re best known for our engineering and management consultancy expertise across many sectors. However we also have experience in some of the more uncommon areas such as health, education and ecology.

Our apprenticeships are some of the best in the country

With numerous awards won by our apprentices, including New Civil Engineer apprentice of the year 2018, as well as being placed fourth in the Glassdoor ‘Best places to work UK’ 2017, it’s clear we must be doing something right. By choosing an apprenticeship with us, you can be sure you’ll be entering into a high quality and fulfilling workplace, an excellent place to learn the ropes.

A promising start to a promising career

All of our accredited schemes give apprentices a professionally recognised qualification. We have multiple starting points, so there are options available for those who have just finished their GCSEs as well as those with A Levels.

Once they’ve completed their schemes, our apprentices are equipped with the skills to progress within the industry and shape their careers in the way they want to.

A supportive environment

The jump into a new career can be daunting, and we’re on hand to make sure our apprentices have the support and guidance they need every step of the way. Alongside a line manager, apprentices are assigned a mentor to ensure their consistent development as they progress within their role.

Earning and learning

From day one our apprentices earn a salary as part of their roles. Training is covered and paid annual leave is provided, so there are no loans or debt to worry about!
